Severe weather, including flooding, rain, and snow, is hitting the eastern United States this weekend. Approximately 20 million Americans in the Southeast and mid-Atlantic are under a flood watch due to heavy rain, gusty winds, and lightning. Parts of eastern Texas and Louisiana are dealing with major river flooding. The storm system is expected to bring rain and snow to the Northeast, with higher elevations receiving several inches of snow and lower elevations likely to see wet snow mixed with rainfall. Additionally, record high temperatures are hitting the mid-Atlantic, with Washington, D.C., reaching 80 degrees for the first time in its history. The west coast is also experiencing extreme weather, with an atmospheric river event bringing heavy rain to the Pacific Northwest. This weather system is causing scattered flooding along the coast of Washington and Oregon. This information is from ABC News Internet Ventures in 2024.
