Louisiana is facing extreme drought, with almost 90% of the state in need of rainfall. A drought monitor from USDA shows the stark reality of the situation. Even though there has been some rain, deep in Earth’s soil remains dry. Farmers are affected, particularly in north Louisiana, because they must depend on rainfall to grow their crops. If there is a beneficial rainfall soon enough, the planting season may be started. Meanwhile, two Tennessee farmers were named National Young Farmers and Ranchers winners, and many Middle Tennessee farmers are currently enjoying the sight of their snow-covered farms.
